Regional Variants, Z-Moves and More Shown in Latest Pokemon Sun & Moon Trailer
Check out the latest Pokemon Sun and Moon trailer below!
As seen in the trailer, some Pokemon will now display new traits and look different in the Alola region. Just like in the real world, common animals adapt to their surroundings and will look and act different depending on where they live. Pokemon, apparently, are no different. In the video, we saw a long-necked, Grass/Dragon type Exeggutor (rather than the standard short, Grass/Pyschic type), Ice and Ice/Fairy type Vulpix and Ninetails, respectively, as well as Ice/Steel Sandshrew and Sandslash! This new revelation is certainly one of the more unique, new aspects of Pokemon Sun and Moon. It’s a safe bet to assume these Pokemon aren’t the only ones getting “Regional Variations“.
Also shown in the video is a brand new Pokemon called Oricorio, which is a bird Pokemon. This Pokemon is unique because it takes on a new appearance and new traits depending on which Alola Island it is caught on (Baile, Pom-Pom, Pa’u or Sensu). Other new Pokemon shown are Minior, Gumshoos (the evolution of Yungoos), Fomantis and its evolution Lurantis and lastly Mudbray,
The addition of “Ride Pokemon” has also been confirmed and shown in-action during the trailer. You can ride on some Pokemon for travel purposes, such as flying, as well as moving across water and even breaking through large rock structures.
Lastly, Z-Moves are introduced. Z-Moves, according to the trailer, are a “new way to attack“. Each Pokemon type has a unique Z-Move which can be used once per battle. Showcased in the video were the Electric-type “Gigavolt Havoc,” the Grass-type “Bloom Doom,” the Fire-type “Inferno Overdrive” and the Water-type “Hydro Vortex.”
