Nintendo Direct – November 12, 2015

Nintendo_Direct_LogoTomorrow (11/12/15), at 2PM PST, Nintendo will host their first Direct since June, and the first since the tragic passing of President Satoru Iwata.  What does Nintendo have in store for us?  I’m not expecting any major or unexpected announcements.  With the Holiday season approaching, Nintendo has no major hardware or software being released.  This year, expect them to focus heavily on existing titles and DLC for those titles.

What I do expect to see is an update on the Smash Ballot and an announcement of the first wave of DLC coming from it.  Shovel Knight?  Wolf?  Inklings?  King K. Rool?  Maybe, maybe not.  We’ll have a better idea in less than a day.

How about Mario Maker?  I’m probably going out on a limb here, but I do expect to see a trailer for the first batch of DLC for Super Mario Maker.  Slopes are a real possibility here, but I’m actually anticipating a few new themes (desert and ice) as well as new course objects for each theme.  I’m looking at you SMB3 Giant Sun!  Other than that, I think a row of bosses would be cool.  Koopalings, please.  Oh, and make those boss battles mandatory!

Finally, we’ll probably see more trailers for games like Mario Tennis and Pokken Tournament.  Definitely something about Splatoon as well.  Either way, it’ll be fantastic to see a new Direct.  Hopefully it’s not a let-down.  Nintendo usually delivers, so I’m not too concerned.

See you tomorrow after the Direct!

  • Thought the direct turned out alright, was hoping for more smash characters but oh well. Also wish they had shown more about pokken but I’m sure they’ll reveal more about it closer to launch.

    • Unfortunately, the best part of the Direct might have been the Pokemon R/B/Y for 3DS announcement. Nothing beats the originals.
