Main Course: Piranha Plant Palace (by Chad)

If you love playing levels that remind you of what you might see in an actual Mario game, well, I suggest you check out this course. Piranha Plant Palace has elements of a traditional Mario game, but also brings a lot of originality as well. So, as you may have already guessed, the Piranha Plant Palace is what’s on the menu today. I’m sure you’re getting hungry, so let’s skip the appetizers, and dig right into the Main Course!

Here’s the video of me tackling the Piranha Plant Palace. This is your chance to really take in the scenery, since you probably won’t be able to truly appreciate it while you’re actually playing the course. It’s always nice to sit back and watch someone else play so you can check out the design. And it may also help give some inspiration for the next time you decide to jump into the stage creator.

plant pipes

I know this is minor, but I love how the pipes were used in this stage. It’s nice to see them used in place of normal blocks, this really helps set a stage apart from the rest. And in the picture above, you can see how Chad uses pipes as part of the platforming sections of the stage. Not only do they act as walls that you can wall jump off of, but also as a potential threat, since you need to watch out for piranha plants coming out of them.

endless fireSince there’s a pipe giving you an endless supply of fire flowers, the boss fight in Piranha Plant Palace is the kind where you really can’t die. Now, if you’re of the belief that every boss fight must be challenging, and not just handed to you, think again. I always appreciate boss fights like this. It always feels good to hit something with a fireball, am I right? There’s nothing wrong with allowing the player to unload a barrage of fire on Bowser before completing the stage. Not only does he deserve it…. but it’s also nice to let players of all skill levels get in on the fun. So thank you, Chad, for letting us get our revenge on Bowser, and his RNG fire.

I've played video games pretty much my whole life. And I'd say I love them just as much now as I did back then. I really enjoy fighting games and I'm always looking for new ones to try. I really like the competitiveness of fighters, and love testing my skills against other players. However, I also like to just sit back and relax with more casual games, too.
