Mario and Luigi Paper Jam (Thoughts)

So I just wanted to do a quick write up about my initial thoughts on the upcoming game, Mario and Luigi Paper Jam. I won’t be going into anything too major this time, I just want to talk about what I think of it after seeing some of the gameplay. This game looks very interesting to me so far, and looks like it has tons of potential. I mean, i personally love the mario and luigi games as well as the paper mario games. So, with these two franchises being combined, how could you go wrong? Well, lets discuss this game and see if it may be worth trying.

So after rewatching the trailers for Mario and Luigi Paper Jam, it looks like a pretty good mix between the games. There’s a lot of enemies/allies from both worlds to interact with. The combat looks cool, it appears that paper mario will attack like he does from his own games and same for mario and luigi. They also brought back bro attacks, which were in the previous mario and luigi games. However, this time, some of the bro attacks will even include paper mario. Very cool idea, can’t wait to see what they can come up with for some of those bro attacks, should be interesting.

Outside of combat, the game seems like it may have more of a mario and luigi feel to it. It seems that you will need to use all three of the characters in order to get passed certain obstacles. I even noticed in one of the trailers where you can only access certain areas by using paper mario. So yeah, you’ll need to know how to use each characters unique abilities in order to get passed certain areas. Seems like a more advanced take on your normal mario and luigi game, since now you have three characters to work with.

From what I’ve seen so far, this game looks great and I hope it’s as fun as it appears to be in the trailers. like I said before, I love both of these franchises so to have both of them represented in one game is a dream come true. I just hope that this game does a good job in capturing the feel of both games. I do understand that this is a mario and luigi game more than it is a paper mario game. But, I still think that it needs to have that paper mario feel to it as well, at least a little bit.

I’ll wrap this up with one final question. Will I be purchasing this game? Well, although I won’t be preording this game, I would like to check it out at some point. Maybe after a few price drops. Yes, I said this game looks great and I love both franchises, but I’m honestly not that hyped for this game. I mean, at the end of the day it’s just another mario and luigi game with a few extra abilities and a different story line. This isn’t a bad thing, but there’s nothing that makes me want to preorder this game so i can play it day one. I’ll just wait until I get the chance, I hope it’ll be worth the wait, an idea like this can be really great if done right. As for you though, I’d say if you think the game looks fun then go ahead and preorder it. If your not too sure about it, then wait a little while like I’m doing. Either way, I think the game is definitely worth purchasing at some point.

I've played video games pretty much my whole life. And I'd say I love them just as much now as I did back then. I really enjoy fighting games and I'm always looking for new ones to try. I really like the competitiveness of fighters, and love testing my skills against other players. However, I also like to just sit back and relax with more casual games, too.
